A new website, myCFI.com.au, was launched today to support the Carbon Farming Initiative (CFI).

The CFI is a voluntary, government scheme whereby farmers, foresters and other land managers can create Australian Carbon Credit Units by establishing projects that lead to a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.

A wide range of projects are eligible, including those achieving a reduction of nitrous oxide and methane emissions, and increased storage of carbon in vegetation and soils.

Chair of the National Farmers’ Federation (NFF) Natural Resources Committee, Gerald Leach, describes the myCFI website as “a useful platform for farmers to access the necessary resources to learn more about the carbon farming process.”

In addition to a range of case studies, the website provides information on who can participate and how.

The CFI operates under the federal government’s Emissions Reduction Fund. The website is produced and managed by Climate Friendly.
